Our cakes are all made by hand using recipes brought from Braciglianno, Italy by La Fiorentina’s founder, Mauro Daniele. Mauro learned these recipes while working under his father, Pasquale, who was an award winning pastry chef, having received four gold medals in an international baking competition in Florence, Italy in 1911. Mauro opened the first La Fiorentina in the south end of Springfield in 1946, naming it after the city of Florence for having honored his father with four gold medals. Mauro’s son, Leo, inherited the bakery in 1977 and expanded the existing store, making it virtually six times its original size. In 1991 we opened our store in Northampton, and in 1996 in East Longmeadow.
By continuing to use these same recipes and only the finest ingredients,
La Fiorentina’s cakes have become the standard in Western Massachusetts.
